Google repense le Play Store

Google is preparing a significant overhaul of its Play Store, driven by Artificial Intelligence (AI) and a major redesign. This initiative aims to elevate the app marketplace from a simple downloading platform to a comprehensive destination for discovery and engagement. Google’s ambition is to help its four billion users better connect with apps, games, movies, books, and cultural content that directly align with their needs and interests, signalling a shift towards deep personalization across the entire experience.

A core focus of this update is to greatly enhance the gaming experience. Google is working to unify all related features, which were previously fragmented across different sections, directly within the main Play Store. New gaming features include a unified gamer profile allowing users to track their stats and achievements across various games and devices in one place, as well as improvements to the Google Play Points system with more opportunities to earn and use them. The most innovative addition is Sidekick, an in-game overlay developed in collaboration with Google DeepMind. Sidekick can be activated while playing and provides direct access to Gemini Live, Google’s generative AI, which can examine the game screen in real-time to offer contextual advice and guidance to the player.

Beyond gaming, the redesign introduces a new ‘You’ tab, designed to be the user’s personal hub. This section will house all information specific to the individual’s interaction with the store, including their subscriptions, stats, and necessary updates. By leveraging new AI features, the Play Store will be able to learn the complex connections between user interests, allowing it to better curate and offer relevant apps, media, and unique experiences. Ultimately, the entire revamp is engineered to make the Play Store experience more intuitive, personal, and continuously engaging for every user.
